Dear Familia!

Como estes! I have learned more Espanol this week! We struck up a deal with Kuki (Cookie) that we would teach her English if she teaches us Spanish. So I learned some of the Spanish alphabet, and we will teach her some English on Friday. And I know how to introduce myself in Spanish! I'm so happy because I wanted to learn a language on my mission, and now I get to! There are enough immigrants here that we might start free English classes.

OHH! The big news!!! Sister Skanchy has gotten the boot! She's going up to F. and I am getting a new companion here in R. It's been a great a transfer with her, and I am going to miss her so much!  How come you only get 1 transfer with the awesome companions?!  I am excited for my new companion, though! He name is Sister Kirkby, and I know her! She used to serve nearby me in Charleston, and she is a powerhouse! I know I am going to become a much better missionary from serving with her, and I am excited for everything I will learn. 

We have been able to meet so many cool new people this week! It amazes me how we plan to spend x amount of time doing x finding activity, and it totally flops, but then someone to teach falls out of the sky into your lap. It only happens when we try to find people on our own, so the Lord truly values our diligence. Some of these people were Haskell and Seth, and they are the neighbors of some less active members. They are so interested! And they actually read from the Book of Mormon between our first contact with them, and the first lesson. It was amazing!

This week I have notices a recurring theme of light throughout my personal studies, church experiences, patriarchal blessing, and more.  I have learned that eternal progression is simply increasing in light until we come to the "perfect day."  Light is truth, light is the feeling you get as your mind expands and you learn about gospel principles.  The source of all light is Jesus Christ and our innate desire to progress and do good comes because of Him.  Our purpose in this life is to increase in light, and as we love others, obey the commandments, and strive for excellence our light naturally increases!  It's how we "Let our light so shine."
